With over 20 years of experience in Kinesiology and Health Sciences, Rita has dedicated much of her career to supporting individuals living with traumatic brain injuries. Before becoming a psychotherapist, she worked extensively in brain injury rehabilitation as a kinesiologist, helping individuals navigate recovery, adaptation, and resilience following life-altering injuries. This experience continues to inform her understanding of the connection between physical health, nervous system regulation, and emotional well-being, and sparked a passion for helping people heal from life’s challenges.
As a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, Rita brings a compassionate, collaborative, and integrative approach to therapy. She supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and the lasting impacts of difficult experiences. Rita believes that effective therapy begins by meeting clients where they are—with empathy, curiosity, and without judgment.
Her approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. Rita has completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing® training program and incorporates a body-oriented approach that helps clients better understand and regulate their nervous systems as part of the healing process.
Rita offers a flexible, client-centred therapeutic space where each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals guide the work. Whether you are looking to process trauma, manage anxiety, navigate a life transition, strengthen coping skills, or develop a deeper connection with yourself, therapy is tailored to meet your individual needs.
