Stephanie is a Registered Psychotherapist who completed her Master of Arts Counselling Psychology degree. She is also a yoga teacher and enjoys working with movement and mindfulness to help clients build a more resilient nervous system.
Stephanie is currently training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Through connection and curiosity, she encourages clients to get acquainted with their internal experience and to their already existing inner strengths. She helps clients to focus on physical sensations and connecting to their environment so that they might one day become more grounded and present in their own bodies. As Bessel van der Kolk writes, “In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them.”
Additionally, Stephanie is working towards becoming a certified Yoga Therapist, integrating yoga philosophy, breath work, and meditation into her work with clients.
Stephanie works in a holistic way, drawing from a variety of modalities; including Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Trauma-Informed care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD. When Stephanie is not with clients, or on her yoga mat, she loves spending time with her two cats Samson and Salem and her dog River.
