Stephanie Tirrell
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Stephanie is a practicum student, completing her Master of Arts Counselling Psychology degree. She is also a yoga teacher and enjoys working with movement and mindfulness to help clients build a more resilient nervous system. Additionally, Stephanie is working towards becoming a certified Yoga Therapist, integrating yoga philosophy, breath work, and mediation into her work with clients.

Through body-based somatic modalities, Stephanie helps clients to re-regulate their emotional systems by helping them to reset their emotional patterns or in yoga philosophy their samskaras. As Bessel van der Kolk writes, “In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them.” Through connection and curiosity, Stephanie encourages clients to get reacquainted with their internal experience, and to their already existing inner strengths. She helps clients to focus on physical sensations and connecting to their environment, so that they might one day become more grounded and present in their own bodies.

Stephanie enjoys working in a holistic way, acknowledging the mind, body, and spirit. She draws from a variety of modalities; including Somatic Experiencing, Polyvagal Theory, CBT Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She understands that life can be stressful and challenging, and she considers learning to cultivate self-compassion to be fundamental. When Stephanie is not with clients or on her yoga matt, she loves spending time in nature with her dog River or at home with her two cats Samson and Salem.
